Last summer, Ashley made a salvation decision at Vacation Bible School at Green Acres Baptist Church. Given her age, we gave her some time to mature and make sure she truly understood the decision she was making. Just a couple of months ago we met with the children’s minister at our church and after meeting with her, Ashley felt ready to take the next step in baptism, as an act of obedience and to tell the whole world about her decision. She joined the church a few weeks ago and we set the date for her to be baptized this morning at First Baptist South in Tyler. She has been so excited about this day and it finally arrived, and we couldn’t have ordered a more beautiful day for her to be baptized in front of family, friends, and the church, out in front of the lake.
Special thanks to Courtney’s sister, Lauren, for being the official photographer so that I could really enjoy the event without having to worry about snapping photos. She did a fabulous job capturing every moment of the baptism.
I love these photos of Chris Legg, our Campus Pastor, and Ashley just having a little convo in the baptismal while everyone was gathering after the service.
Chris explaining Ashley’s decision and what baptism means…
Ashley was asked to select a favorite verse for me to read during the ceremony. She chose Romans 12:2 – “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
And then Chris baptizes his sister (and now my sister) in Christ…such an incredibly proud and special moment…
Chris said a special prayer for Ashley at the end…
The sweet couple, David and Shirley Lake, who assisted us from start to finish this morning…
Love this picture of us with Chris…

Just us…
Thanks to everyone who spent this special day with us. We loved having you all here, and we enjoyed our afternoon of pool volleyball and Mexican food. We missed the Cedar Park crew, who will be doing this same thing with Neely next weekend when she gets baptized!
