The title of my blog comes from Ephesians 3:20 - "Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory..." God has blessed me far more abundantly than I could have ever dreamed and I am so humbled by and undeserving of these blessings.

Impromptu

By definition, this means, “Done without being planned, organized, or rehearsed”.  This is something that Jason and I really don’t get and we don’t normally do.  However, this weekend, with no planning, we jumped in the car late Friday night for an “impromptu” trip to Salado for the weekend.  We looked at our summer calendar and realized if we didn’t go this weekend, we wouldn’t make it back before August.  We decided that was just too long considering we hadn’t been there since our wedding weekend in October and a 2-hour visit at New Year’s with Connor and Ashley.

It was a great decision to fly by the seat of our pants for a change!  We got in about 11:30 Friday night and Kit and Betty didn’t just leave the light on, they waited up for us (way past their bedtime).  We slept in on Saturday and then I went for a run while everyone enjoyed coffee and read the newspaper on the back patio (Ralph and GG joined us).  After breakfast and lunch, we decided to head to a new winery Kit and Betty found the day before, Pilot Knob Vineyard.  We enjoyed some wine on the patio with a wonderful view and breeze for June in the Hill Country.  After our trip to the vineyard, we came back to the house and got cleaned up for dinner, which was Z’Tejas.  We enjoyed appetizers and salads and some 6th Street margaritas and then came back to the house to visit and hang out some more.

On Sunday, we woke up to thunder and rain and decided to head back to Tyler to see if Jason could get in some golf in the afternoon (since the forecast was better at home).  Unfortunately, we took the rain with us to Tyler and no golf was played, but we did get a couple of hours out by the pool before we headed back to the house for a delicious steak dinner.  We should be more “impromptu” more often.  We’ll see!
