We have so many memories of Uncle Dean and Aunt Linda’s house at 6600 Paris Road in Winchester, KY. Granny died when I was still a teenager, as were Brent and Jane E, so after that, we spent a lot of time here. Since there were so many of us, we got a hotel in Winchester, but Aunt Linda’s house still felt like “home base”. Uncle Dean died over four years ago, very suddenly, and he is still very missed, but Aunt Linda still welcomes us each and every time we are here, as she did on Sunday after we left Pop and Dixie’s house.
We enjoyed our first Ale 8’s out of a bottle at Aunt Linda’s house. I went straight to the refrigerator and grabbed one out and according to Ashley, I didn’t even ask. At Aunt Linda’s it is like home, so we don’t have to ask here. :)
We have spent many a day and night on that swing on the front porch and the kids enjoyed it as well. Once again, we were so glad we had pretty weather on our first day so the kids could really enjoy the great outdoors before the cold hit.
Aunt Linda was just in the hospital last week with a stomach virus and pneumonia so we have visited each day, but have made sure not to wear out our welcome, especially on our first visit, so we headed to dinner and checked into our hotel (with an indoor swimming pool – fantastic idea Mamaw/Meme!)
Another memory from road trips to Kentucky, Frisch’s Big Boy.
And a special treat after dinner…swimming in the indoor pool at the hotel, and a visit from some of the Elam clan.
Karen and Scott, our first cousins, and Karen’s son, Aaron, and daughter, Allison, and two of her three boys came by the hotel to visit.
We visited until close to midnight on our first day, which made for a really long Sunday, but we were so blessed to enjoy a whole day with our Kentucky family.
